The time has come for me to close SimplePlanOnline.com. It's been a really good run of over four years, but it is time for me to move on. I'm in a different place in my life than where I was in 2004. In addition, the site was hacked last week and has become corrupt and some parts have been lost for good. Lately I have barely had the time to update the news section of the site, let alone the rest of the sections. It kills me that most of the site has not been updated, but I just don't have the time I used to have. Now that the site has been hacked, I'd have to re-build the site from scratch and I just do not have the ability to do so. Though I may not have this site anymore, I'm still a fan and I'll still be around helping the guys out throughout the internet... just not on the fan-site side of things :) So now on to the sappy part. SimplePlanOnline.com has accomplished more than I could have ever imagined. In the past I've done many other fansites, but nothing that has made such an impact as this. Since it's opening in February 2004, the site has reached approximately 12 million hits, had visitors from over 40 countries, been the best news source for the band, and has become the #2 website on google when searching Simple Plan (before the Myspace and wikipedia days, grr!). I couldn't have predicted a site of mine could have been this successful, I couldn't have even predicted I'd be doing this for longer than 5 months. Naturally, after doing this for over four years, I have some people to thank. Cecilia has helped me and supported me since the early stages of the site. She has been there with me since the first few months when she'd submit news. From there a lifetime friendship of trust and understanding was created. Thank you for everything, all the advice, problem solving and listening, the haters, the complainers, and the "what the hell am I doing?" moments. Truly, I couldn't have done it and made it this far without you. Sandra, our original media girl. Thank you for putting up with all my "can you please rip ____" requests. I'm pretty sure, aside from the boards, the videos were the reason people continued to visit, so you were a major asset to the site. Also a big thank you goes out to anyone who has contributed anything to the site over the last four years. Whether it was simply submitting news, or photos and graphics, that I still have not gotten around to adding - everything submitted was appreciated. Thanks to Jay, Krystina and Eleclya, Valerie and Mike for being big media contributors as well. Thanks to all the mods on the boards, who kept things under control as best they could. All the hosts including Fan-Sites.org, sites and affiliates that have supported us too, couldn't have spread the word on SPO without you! Of course, thank you to every single one of you for continually visiting the site. I know some of you have been visiting since the very first day, which just amazes me. Thanks for sticking around (even through this very long goodbye note)! Finally, I definitely need to thank Simple Plan, including Patrick, Trevor, Frenchie and Shamus. If it wasn't for you, there would be no Simple Plan Online. Thank you for the support, it really meant a lot to know that you guys not only appreciated a fansite, but actively took part in the site. You have been one of my favorite bands for years and I'm glad that through the site I have gotten to know each of you and learn from you. Thank you for going above and beyond in showing your appreciation for your fans.
